I want to talk about what makes a painting good or not so good. Several criteria are defined that influence the quality of a painting. There is the composition, drawing, linear as well as chromatic perspective, harmony of colors, the value of these colors, light, contrast, and balance etc.
A successful painting should respect most of these elements as much as possible. In other words, if the starting composition is not good, if the drawing is bad, if the perspective is not right, if the choice of colors leaves something to be desired, if the light is not present and if the masses are disproportionate, it will then be impossible to achieve a good painting.
To bring all these elements together, there is only one way: work, work and work. For more than 40 years, I have been trying to develop a technique that allows me to achieve the desired effects and I continue this tireless search for the right painting every day, always hoping to succeed, knowing very well that the perfect painting does not exist. not, fortunately because the day you achieve the perfect job, you will stop painting. So, I'll have to learn to live with my eternal dissatisfaction, but that's something else… What do you think?
